Summerfield Florida Local Information

Summerfield, Florida is a Extraordinary All American type town. Here you will find places like Del Webb Spruce Creek Country Club, many Horse Farms and Ranches, 3-Acre lots and 10-acre lots vacant or with Mobile Homes and Single Family Homes, and Orange Blossom Hills subdivision. We also have part of The Villages in our city limits, along with many Stores including Wal-mart, Pizza Hut, Hungry Howies, McDonalds, Murphy, Walgreens, Publix, and others. Lake Weir is a great place to fish and water ski, or jet ski or canoe/kayak. We have Brighthouse, Comcast, Embarq, Bellsouth, and other digital communications companies that offer service here, not to mention it is very convenient to many Florida fun places including:

Ocala - about 30 minutes
Leesburg - about 30 minutes
The Villages - about 5 minutes
Clearwater Beach, one of the Top 10 Beaches in the World, is about 2 hours away!
Tampa is only about 1.5 hours away
Orlando, one of the Top 3 Tourist Destinations in the World, is only about 1.5 Hours Away!

There are typically a lot of jobs available in Summerfield and within 30-45 minutes of areas in Summerfield.

The roads are well maintained and mostly paved. There are subdivisions with Single Family Homes, Mobile Homes, A Mixture of Both, Horse Farms, Horse Ranches, and a lot of vacant land available for purchase.

Summerfield is within radio frequency of Orlando, so we can pick up radio stations in the Orlando market. Locally we have one of the best country music radio stations in the world, K-Country. The local cable company also offers a wide variety of local programming from Orlando, Ocala, and even Gainesville. We also get the Villages Television Network on our local cable company here.

With rolling hills, lots of wooded lands, Lakes big and small, mature, huge trees, long two-lane roads, canopy roads, and friendly local people, this is a very nice area to live and play.

The weather varies from upper 20's at the coldest in the winter months of January to April, to the upper 90's and sometime 100's in the summer. Rain is throughout the year, sometimes sporadic, and we do encounter lightening and strong rains occasionally. Not entirely out of the hurricane zone, it is a bit further away in the woods than living in an area near the ocean. Homeowners insurance (Hazard Insurance) is much cheaper for inland Florida than on the coast.

People here work in a variety of jobs ranging from technical and professional, to county and city workers, medical workers, agriculture and horse farm related jobs, and private enterprise. Ocala has a Lockheed/Martin division that advertises jobs periodically and there are a lot of Medical Jobs available.

A decent mobile home is about 80K. A new CBS home is only about 180K. Farms and Ranches are 250-300K and much higher. You can find a mobile home on 3 acres for about 180K. 1 Acre is about 75K -100K, a standard buildable lot is about 25-30K, but there are occasionally special deals available. Sometimes there are homes available for as little as 40K-50K.
